Keeping Oakland students and staff safe requires sustained, long-term investments - but it also requires immediate interventions to protect those currently learning and working in our classrooms.
Cool Oakland Schools is a grassroots fundraising campaign to fill this gap! We are raising money to outfit classrooms with immediate cooling solutions to address current saftey concerns, buying time for long-term planning.
Together, we can raise $100,000.

This will support at least 200 classrooms, or approximately 10% of the Oakland Unified Classrooms without ANY cooling today.
This campaign is made possible by Oakland Ed Fund, our fiscal sponsor.
Donations are fully tax deductible.
All funds will be used for immediately cooling classrooms (purchasing portable ACs and installation supplies) to maximize impact TODAY.
All funds will go to Title 1 schools in Oakland CA, with priority going to schools where 50% or more students are eligible for free + reduced lunch.
All efforts will be installed by volunteers, so that funds stretch farther.

OUSD needs to create a long-term plan to keep students and teachers safe inside OUSD classrooms. Long-term solutions take time and involve many steps. Meanwhile, students and teachers are inside our classrooms today. We are raising funds to help fill the gap and provide immediate relief.
